Here is more why being is happy is good for you
In a recent study by Dr. Karina Davidson of Columbia University Medical center states “If you aren’t naturally a happy person, just try to act like one. It could help your heart.”
Dr. Davidson speculated that several factors may combine to produce the heart protective outcome of being happier. Happier people tend to sleep better and practice more heart healthy behaviors. She also said, “They may also be physiologically different than those who are unhappy.”
Happy people tend to have less stress in their lives and handle the stress they have better than less happy people.
Dr. Davidson’s study is not a short study with a few people over a short period of time. The study was for 10 years on 1739 men and women. The study showed that the happier someone was the less likely he or she was to develop heart disease. In fact, for everyone on the five-point scale that measures positive effect, the risk of heart disease dropped 22 percent.
There is so much more on how being happy is good for you, but I’ll go over that at a later date.
Let’s change tack and look at when you’re happy you attract people. Don’t you want to be around happy people? I sure do. Yes I have my serious moments and that is as it should be, but you are not going to see me with be frown on my face and feeling sorry for myself. For sure I am not asking people to feel sorry for me.
Having loved ones and friends is a great health builder. All you have to do is look around you. Look at those that have had long term relationships and I’ll bet you see those that are content and happy with life. You see their happiness in their smiles and how they care about others.
So, be happy and not only have a wonderful life but a healthy one.

DHL lost 85 pounds in 1987
Yes in 1987 I lost 85 pound in less than four months and I did it under a M.D’s supervision. Here is the diet in a nut shell. All I had to eat every day was 600 calories. That was it, also I had to walk for at least one hour every day and the pounds came off like water off a ducks back.
Our neighbors, Doug and Marsha, said they could see me shrink a little each day. It didn’t take long before my clothes started to be too large.
What I had to eat was powdered protein. It came in little 100 calorie packets. I just dumped the package into a class and added Diet Coke. I could have used water but the Diet Coke gave it some flavor
. Just so you know it did not have the same ingredients as Slim Fast, but whatever it was it really worked. I had to walk the one hour a day, but could not do any stressful exercise.
During the diet I had to go to Japan on business. The hard part of the diet was explaining it to my Japanese business partners. Once the Senior VP Mr. Inakoma got the picture he took over explaining my diet to everyone we ate with.
At the time I was in Japan they didn’t have Diet Coke but rather a Coke called Light Coke. Every time we went by a vending machine that had Light Coke, Mr. Inakoma would get me a can of it. By the way, Japan has more vending machines than you can ever imagine.
After 10 day I was back in the good old USA and about 30 pounds lighter. Now it was time for some smaller clothes. There was no alcohol drinking while I was on this diet.
Finally I hit my goal of 160 pound and that was from 245. Now it was time for a complete redo of my wardrobe and to tell you the truth I hadn’t felt as good as I felt in years and years.
My Doctor did warn me that people would say I was too thin or even worse that I might have some very bad health problem. People did say I was too thin and there were those that would secretly talk to Micki to see how long I had to live.
It is twenty three years later and I am still alive, but not as thin. Here is what I did wrong. I started to eat pasta, not a little but a lot. That was because at that time pasta was supposed to be the perfect food. Oh, I started drinking again.
I never got up to 245 again but I did put on a lot of weight. Though I must say all during this time after the large weight loss I walk almost every day plus I have a weight lifting program.
On Dec. 26, 2009 I told everyone that would listen that on Dec. 30, 2010 I would weigh 185 pounds and if I am a little less that 185 that will be OK. I am on The DHL Diet and you can read about it on one of my past blogs or E-mail me at www.dhalind@gmail.com and I’ll send it to you
